In 2002, a group of local community members began recording rainfall data from 6 different stations in Lawrence County. Currently, we have 8 volunteers (8 stations) in the program who collect data and send it into the Conservation District where it is recorded and analyzed once a year. This information helps us to understand the local weather patterns within the community, which can be beneficial for emergency planners and our farming community. Below is the Annual Report for the data collected in 2016. If you would like to see data from a previous year, please contact the district.
If you are looking for additional information on rainfall monitoring, visit the Community Collaborative Rain Hail and Snow Network (CoCoRaHS), a national non-profit organization sponsored by institutions such as the National Weather Service and the National Science Foundation.
