Agricultural Education for Our Watersheds
As part of an educational grant, funded by the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts, Inc. through
a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection under Section 319 of the Clean Water Act, administered by the
U.S. environmental Protection Agency, the Lawrence County Conservation District has put together educational packets for any
farmer, per request, in Lawrence County. The packets inlcude information pertaining to non-point source pollution, regulations involving non-point
source pollution, and best management practices to help your own operation comply.
The Conservation District, in an effort to help protect our natural waterways, is currently putting up monofilament
bins around the county. The purpose of these bins is to collect monofilament fishing line, preventing it from entering our environment.
To learn more about the program, please click on the link above. Additionally, if you know of a fishing spot in the county that could
use a bin, please let us know.
On April 18th, students from Mohawk High School's Conservation Club were led by Pennsylvania Fish
and Boat Commission in building 14 Channel Catfish Spawning Boxes. The boxes were placed in various locations around the lake.
